The four marble reliefs have suffered the most extensive damage of any part of the monument. They are currently being cleaned by restoration artists.

William Bradford became the second Governor of the Colony in the winter of 1620 1621 following the death of Elder William Brewster who had been elected governor before the voyage began. Bradford kept a detailed journal of the first twenty years of the Colony. This journal, Of Plimoth Plantation has been preserved and translated into modern English. The quote below is found in his Journal.
